Premise and excerpt got my curiosity going but that execution wasn't up to my expectations. The heroine Gena - balanced between being a doormat and some moments of fight but spent the book lamenting her unrequited love and making halfhearted stands to not involve herself with him. i never got her love for the hero - i understand the childhood crush and the crushing (ha, ha) of her dreams with the unwanted pregnancy - but really would your love last, a childhood crush, total ingnorance of you by the hero, a drunken one night stand, more ignoring, a forced shotgun wedding, 13 married days with seemingly no communication, a dumping and the belief that you're a liar, nothing for 15 years, a re-meet, proof that you're not a liar, even more anger becos you hid a child and the constant demonstrations that other peoples feelings mean more than yours?The hero was an asshat who never seemed to acknowledge how appallingly he treated Gena. In his defence he did the right thing by his daughter once he realised she existed and he was honest with his fiancee - but he was a dog to Gena.I love secret baby tropes but this one didn't work for me bacause, I didn't see them fall in love and wasn't convinced that their love wasn't a by-product of the child they had together.- (In my 5/3/1 ebook, I provide detailed lists of weights. Feel free to elaborate with thoughts and feedbacks eventually. I really like Leviathan and Pervertor, by the look of them, for the focus on strength. Planning to start next month with the first, then move to the second. Someday, tho. Not from Forever, but when I get stronger I really want to do the Monolith. Going to ride it out for a year or until it stops working.
